A lot of businesses have been impacted by these uncertain times, and we can help support our local business as much as possible.
Find out if your favourite local shops offer curbside pickup, delivery, online shopping, or gift cards for future use.
To minimize shopping trips, we have been doing a lot of meal planning, meal prep, batch cooking, and grocery delivery these days.
Here are some businesses in the west GTA area that offer contactless delivery or curbside pickup.
Little Bee Farmers Market - We get a local seasonal food box for delivery every week. This surprise box is filled with produce from local Mennonite farms. And because it's a surprise, this has challenged me to explore vegetables I don't usually get from the grocery. I've learned to cook sunchokes, rutabaga, parsnips, fiddleheads. Meat, dairy, and eggs are also available. Check their website if they deliver to your area. The latest updates are on their Facebook group. Best days to order are Sunday evenings and Wednesday afternoons.
Wild Meadows Farm - We have been enjoying pastured meat delivered from this local Ontario farm. I love that organ meats and bones are available too. We use up beef bones in a bone broth or bone marrow stew. Use the code MELISSA to get $15 off your first order!
Oakville, ON area
Julia's Joyful Kitchen - Delicious gluten-free, vegan cookies and treats can be delivered to your doorstep. The cashew butter chocolate chip cookies are amazing!
Waterdown, ON area
Instead of the big box stores with long lines and wait times, I go to smaller stores like Organic Garage in Oakville and Healthy Planet.
Simply Swell Kitchen - I started this company making reusable beeswax food wraps. Free delivery in Canada.
A Greener Place - A zero-waste, eco-friendly store in Waterdown, ON. Get your sustainable products delivered.
Refillery Market - Get eco-friendly soaps, detergents and personal care product refills for delivery in the Halton region.
The Kind Matter Company - Offers refill delivery in Peel and Halton regions.
Online Yoga and Zumba
Gyms and yoga studios are closed, and I have been enjoying yoga and zumba classes at home.
Renee Walker Wellness - Renee is my amazing meditation teacher and she has been offering online yoga and meditation classes.
Hot Yoga and Pilates - While the studio is closed, online yoga and pilates classes are available. A Yin Yoga class in the evening right before bedtime is so relaxing!
Zumbapassion - Get moving and dancing through virtual zumba classes. So fun!
Online Classes and Workshops
The sky's the limit with online learning nowadays.
Online Kombucha Workshops - Learn to brew your own kombucha at home in one of my virtual workshops!
Kim Torrance - Shifting to online events has allowed Kim to create new offerings such as Party in a Box and virtual Table Setting and Charcuterie Board workshops.
The Tasting Tutor - Oliver offers virtual chocolate tasting events. Yum!
